I believe you on the buying and selling. What I don't believe is that a detetor gets a great reputation over six or seven years of use and somebody buys one, really learns it and gives it a real workout in one week and says it's not good. Nobody is that good. Nobody.

Ha... Funny post! The reason you've been hearing so much about them is because they are the cats meow in a do all detector. I've only had mine about a week and I love it more and more each time out. I talked to A LOT of people and many different multi-brand dealers, and met a guy who tried to sell me his DFX, only to mention in passing breath that his son found 2 nuggets with his MXT (2 1/2 Ounces) but he was just selling his DFX to get more dredge equipment ;-) rrrrrriiiiight!

There are other detectors out there, like the Minelab 70, but when I looked at it, it was like the Fisher F75, kinda plastic and such. Plus, I'm tired of buying things built in other Countries. If you're nice from here on out, I won't litter all your favorite detecting areas with "Made in China" foils ;-)

    Nice boat ;-)

Like I said, I don't care how good you are, nobody can give an good review on a detector after one week.

OK, if you had said this to start with I probably never would have responded. I have been detecting since 1978 and I know I have tried many that I did not like right off the bat. Does not mean they were over rated, they just were not for me so I didn't waste time trying to learn something I did not like to swing.

What did you not like about it? Was it the performance or just the "feel" of it. I respect your opinion. I have picked up more than one machine and I just got bad vibes about it long before it ever got in the field.  If your first feelings is not good about a detector, car, girl, most likely it will not work for you and you will not ever be happy with it period.  I remember the first time I picked up the top of the line Minelab. Just did not feel right to me and when I turned it on the feeling just got worse. Im not sure why I had this negative attitude towards it because I know how AWESOME of a machine it is. I do not own a MXT and I have heard nothing but good about it but the bottom line you didnt like it and everyone should respect your opinion. And a big congrats on making a profit on your sell. I just sold a Fisher that I have had over a year and made money on it. It amazes me on how well any machine holds it value. Its just about the only electronic device I can think of that will do that.

I've had my MXT for about three weeks now, the more I use it the more I like it. I'm just now starting to get things dialed in to where I can consistently "know" when I've got somthing under the coil and when its junk. It will def. go really deep. Took it to a spot last week where I had gone over with an ACE 250 about three weeks prior, pulled eleven more coins from the same general area in a few hours time. A really great machine from what I've seen so far..........

    Re: Whites MXT

I agree. I'm really quite surprised at this unit. I searched my yard pretty hard core with my Fisher F4, and when I got the MXT the following week, I was totally surprised to be digging QUARTERS out of the exact same spot where nothing was there before. These were at decent depth, maybe 7-9 inches or so. There are more too, as I only dug up two and had several more quarter hits on the screen but got tired. I'll dig em in a few days. Kinda fun knowing somethings there that you're going back for!

The only negative thing is that it's a little heavy with my Sun Ray DX-1 on there, but hey, my arms are looking great! ;-) I switch arms every 20 min or so anyway. Also, IF I had my wish, the trigger would lock back as well as forward. That way I could just pop it into pinpoint and search to my hearts content with my DX-1. I do lots of sand/bark stuff.

Has anyone modded there switch so it's a 3-way lock? I may hit radio shack and see what they have. Any reasons why I should not do this, other than warranty?

Does the MXT have Auto ground balance, and depth gage like the DFX and XLT?

If you're so anti- White's, never liked them, then what in the heck are you doing on a White's site?

Developing treasure by buying & selling treasure hunting equipment is really not treasure. It's a simple profit derived from a business deal.

I don't consider my paycheck or Army retirement check to be treasure.

If you just came here to gloat over the profit you made on a piece of White's equipment just think of the potential treasure you could have found with your Minelab if you wouldn't have spent this time on the computer.
