WHO ELSE HAS SWITCHED FROM THE XLT TO THE DFX?

I just got a DFX after swinging a XLT for at least 10 years. I was just putting out a feeler for other members who have done the same thing. The first thing I noticed is how much faster the menus scroll and the shorter time it takes to ground balance. Very cool! So the question Im asking is some quick tips to help make the transition from the XLT to the DFX painless as possibke. Our fellow member Gibbsium spent some time with me on the phone last night explaining some of the first things I need to tweak to jack up the depth. Any other comments or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    KFB,

I have the still have the XLT as well as a DFX. It's not real hard transitioning.

For best depth in most conditions try Accepting down to at least -30 or even -80 on up to +94 or +95 if hot rocks aren't a problem.

    Preamp Gain 4

AC Sens 70 -80. Make sure the detector is stable at this Sens & PAG 4

    Sweep Speed 1

Filters 3, 4 or 5 depending on trash & mineralization. 3 for trash, 4 for general hunting, 5 for heavy miineralization.

2 Freq. Best Data. Use Correlate in trash or when experiencing interference.
Or- 15 kHz when looking for small targets. With experience you'll get a feel what system works better at that location.

Ground balance twice in the same spot

Get Jeff Foster's "Digging Deeper With The DFX"

Also get on the http://www.dfxonly.com site. Don't leave this site but try as many White's or DFX sites you can find. They're all good. Many of the same guys on the same sites.

Good luck with your new DFX. If you loved your XLT you'll really love the DFX!!

I got a DFX 300 a few months ago and now the XLT sits in the corner
The DFX is catching up quick with good finds compared to the XLT.
I just used the programs I used with the XLT with a few adjustments.

    Sarge said it well!!

I've never had the XLT but I know my good old DFX.

Don't hesitate to ask question BTW, feel free to PM me also I'll try to help when I can.

Also try Tone ID on it assigns each VDI number with a specific sound. (in reality it means that the DFX can make 191 different tones!! when running with wide open disc that is)

Thanks for all the great help. I look forward to getting out with it more. I got out for a few minutes the other day and was using tone ID when it screamed at me and out came a nice silver ring! It was about my 5Th target dug for the day. It was so hot outside it was my last!
