I'm still living and working in Kabul Afghanistan as an American Expat, working as a contractor for the Department of State ,Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Air Wing, so to say that life can be relatively exciting is putting it mildly. However, I still prefer the quiet laid back life style of living on the barrier island of Florida.
It's been a busy week for us over this way, and we have had Oliver North hanging out with us all week reporting on Fox News concerning some of our Operations over this way. Since I get allot of questions as to what it is we do over this way, I thought I would add this link to his latest report on Fox.
Just for the record, I'm not one of the guys on the ground.
Yesterday I was up in the mountains near Kabul Afghanistan working on my sharp shooting skills. I'm not as good a shot as I was back in my younger days. However, I'm still very accurate and anyone in my sights is going down fast.
I finally made it out of Kabul Afghanistan today, and am at the Dubai Airport waiting for my flight to Atlanta in about three more hours. It's a 13 hour flight to the states from here. The Guinness sure is good, and I should be feeling no pain by the time I board this flight.
Back in the Bahamas since Friday! It's good to be back in the Islands again. This trip we visited Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Harbour Island with its pink sand beaches, Exuma and Ship Channel Cay. Our base of operations for this week was a condo at Club Land'or located on Paradise Island at the Atlantis marina just across the port from Nassau. Last trip we stayed at the British Colonial in Nassau, an outstanding Hotel. However, this trip we decided a condo with a kitchen would meet our needs.
The week went entirely too fast, and once again we were not able to meet all our objectives for this trip. We were successful in the shipwreck research department, and were able to locate good information on several shipwreck locations to explore during the 2010 dive season. I did make one drift dive, and had my first black tip shark encounter, that was a rush and something that one has to be prepared for if diving in the waters of the Bahamas. The first shark passed below me to the left, and I just watched him go buy, when I turned back to the direction of the drift, I was nose to nose with three more sharks at my depth and about ten feet away, as I drifted on buy them. What a total thrill to see these magnificent creatures in a place of total beauty. I must say that the underwater scenery rivaled that on the surface. I see now that I have waited too long to purchase a good underwater camera, and will rectify that before our next trip to the Bahamas this coming January.
Arrived in Dubai UAE this morning, and just waiting on my flight to Atlanta. It’s a 13 hour flight back to the States, and a couple hours ground time in Atlanta before my flight to Melbourne Florida. Should be home mid morning Wednesday.
On the move again, Dubai in the morning, then off to Atlanta, and then down to Melbourne Florida. I should be back on sunny Satellite Beach by mid-morning Tuesday.
I just visited the Bamyen Valley in the Hindu Kush Mountains. This is the site of the ancient Red City fortress that was destroyed by Genghis Khan in the 12th century, and the 2000 year old Buddha's that were destroyed by the Taliban in March 2001. Unfortunately the Taliban still control much of this region and we were not able to get any closer than a mile from the sites. maybe in a couple of more years we can get in for a close up hunt on the site.
Made it into Las Vegas Thursday night after getting to spend one night in my own bed in Florida. I have been on the road from Kabul since Monday night (eastern time). Now that my niece Lelani is married, Theresa and I can spend the next five days relaxing in beautiful Las Vegas, seeing old friends and family, eating real food, enjoying a few drinks and playing some poker.
Well, its been two years since I made the move to Kabul Afghanistan. I have only about 10 more hours until I head over to the "Freedom Bird" and put Afghanistan behind me for good. I will be home in Satellite Beach Florida in time for lunch on Wednesday. YES!!!!!

Thanks Don Jose, I have been keeping up with the news down that way in anticipation of my upcoming move to Guat City. Sounds like what I have been dealing with over this way for the last two years. I guess I know how to pick them! LOL
