Yeah I did right after I sent that reply. Looks like a handful of people took a shot at it. They didn't find much of anything other than evidence of previous hunters.

Hi Shroover, Over the years theres been over 300 treasure explorations at this island site and someone spent 25 years looking too.A Few relics and pieces of eight was all that was found.Seems the only treasure to be had was the expence of all these treasure hunts. ;D ;D ;D

The operative word in my opening post was "allegedly" (like "supposedly"). I never said there "was" hoardes of treasure buried there. Don't get your panties in a bunch, guys.

Re: Coco's Island (land of many a buried treasure legends)

well anyway i read somwhere that the spanish government isnt issuing treasure hunting permits for cocos island anymore.

i reckon that the amount of stories that have come up about that place mean that there is some treasure there, but at the same time over 300 expiditions there and basically nothing found says exactally the opposite.

tis interesting, i would like to go there myself and have a look, because i wont be satisfied that theres nothing there till i look.

What difference would it make ?
Do you know how many islands comprise the "Group" ?
If you are that interested, I would imagine that you'd have to contact the Govt. of Costa Roca
and ask them for an exact "count"!
But!
Beware, they're going to ask a "fee" for the service!

Re: Coco's Island (land of many a buried treasure legends)

What HAPPENED? ???

I, bring up the fact that there's more than one "Cocos Island(s)"
group,
AND! The "Topic" goes dead ! ::)
I, hope that the revelation, of more than one "Cocos" island group,
hasn't come as, or, surprised the "Cocos Island" treasure hunters ? :-\

One thing that a treasure hunter should NEVER, EVER do!
That is to : pt] ASSUME ANYTHING ! :-\

If you will research the history of the Cocos Island you'll find out that it began back in the early '40's
It was written about, by a Famous Adventurer/TH'er (whose name, escapes me) of/in that day.
The C.R. Govt. had nothing, what so ever, to do with orginating the story!
Have you read the story ?

Mercinarie:
What is your TH'ing Experience?
From your "replies" & "posts", I would guess, that you are just beginning to develope an interest?
There's no "negative" in being a "Beginner"
As "We" all were at one time!
AND!
This "Forum" is "Great" place to begin.
There's a lot of literary experince to be gained here! :D
Just a bit of a "warning"!
Do Not take all of the things, mentioned on the TH Forum as an,
Absolute! Fact! ::)

There's really a need ...... :-\
Some day. someone, should start a "Topic", for and on,
"Beginning TH'ing" or "TH'ing 101"

Re: Coco's Island (land of many a buried treasure legends)

Most things are easy to spot as true or false......
But!
You'd be surprised at just how many people will read/hear something, here or elsewhere and take it as True or Proven ! ::)
Then, They'll actually start quoting it as a "fact" !
"TV", news/shows, etc, is notorious for incorrect/bad/false information
Now!
When I see/hear something that I am unsure of, I do what EVERY TH'er should be GOOD AT!
That's, "Research"
Most statements are easy to prove or disprove !
Takes just a little digging around !
But!
Don't quit at just one source, unless it's a really reliable source, dbl chek !!!
Then you'll be an authority on & of, the subject!
