Author: Jacques Jedwab (jjedwab@resul.ulb.ac.be)

Description of Website: CHEAP MICROPANNING WITH A PETRI DISH Jacques Jedwab This method of micropanning was primarily aimed at the concentration of very small grains of platinum, palladium, gold-palladium alloys and Platinum Group Minerals, followed by their determination under the SEM/EMP. But the method may also be used for gold dust. The attractive aspect of the method is its simplicity, rapidity and use of plain tap water. The method is best suited for concentrating heavy mineral grains from about 500 down to about 20 micrometer and probably less. It is not intended at replacing the gold pan, which is best suited for dimensions down to 50 micrometer. The recipe will be sent by e-mail to any interested person.
