Well Aaron, it's like this--IF your ring is in the attic an experienced user with a decent detector would most likely find it. You could probably find it yourself with a good detector that you could adjust the discrimination on (once you understand what that is, when and why it is used and how to adjust it). Is it worth buying a detctor to find the ring? Only you can answer that but look at it this way....you might just find not only the ring but a new enjoyable hobby in the process. Are you located in an area where others in the MD hobby are located that you might ask for help? Any hobby stores in the area or historical societies that you could inquire with as to people they know who would have a MD? What about your local police department or water company? Put your thinking cap on and try to come up with a place to start looking for someone with a detector. Good luck.
