Description The old Kansas campsite had already surrendered Seated Liberty silver, Indian Head cents, and an assortment of relics. So, even though the overpowering signal that stopped Gary Brown in his tracks conjured up images of rusty cans and horseshoes, he wasn't about to take any chances. Incredibly, the first thing that came to light was a gold chain-not only an unexpected target, but an improbable one in terms of the strong indication he'd received. Sure enough, there was an even bigger surprise still underground. Attached to the chain was a massive silver James Madison Indian Peace medal! Relive this exciting recovery with Gary in his story "Shaking Hands with the Past," on page 46.
