An awesome find! |
| Description |
Chilly autumn weather couldn't keep Jim Selburg and his friend Jeff away from a century-old Wisconsin park, and both coinshooters brought home Barber silver, Standing Liberty quarters, Mercury dimes, Indian Head and Wheat cents galore, and plenty of nickels. "V" nickels... silver-content "war" nickels... and Buffaloes. Jim didn't bother cleaning and checking his finds until winter settled in, bringing bitter temperatures and rock-hard ground that forced him to hang up his detector until spring. When he did get around to sorting through those Buffaloes, he recalls, "My heart stopped! One of them looked like a three-legged '37-D. I thought, 'No way!'" But it was. There is a strong date, the details are sharp, and only the coin's typical dug-nickel oxidation holds the grade down to Very Good. No, it's not a million-dollar find- but it's surely a find in a million!
