A mineralogical masterpiece appraised at $6,000 |
| Description |
As summer drew to a close, nuggetshooters Ken Oyler and Larry Boyes were continuing their quest for Colorado's elusive wire and crystalline gold, but then they got some bad news. A new lessee had taken over the property where they'd had their best luck, and detecting and prospecting would no longer be allowed. So, they pulled up stakes and drove the motor home to a spot just down the road. Once there, they figured a quick "look-see" with their detectors couldn't do any harm, and almost immediately Ken got a hit only 10' from the back of the pickup. Up came a fist-sized rock laced and entwined with tendrils of rich yellow gold, a mineralogical masterpiece appraised at $6,000. "Not bad for ten minutes' work," he remarks. "And yes, I filled in the hole!"
