Description It's always a pleasure to receive permission to check out a promising site, but when John Powell was told to bring along not only his detector but any earthmoving equipment he thought might come in handy at the long-abandoned township... well, who could turn down an invitation like that? A number of Colonial homes had once stood there, and this was a chance to get right down to the level where items had been lost by their occupants long ago. The hunt had been a good one, but John sensed that something far better was still underfoot. Making another pass with the grader he had leased, he then began reworking the area. A solid signal told him his hunch was right, and moments later he was holding a 1793 Chain cent! There's more to tell, and John tells it well in "Links to the Past," a Best Finds feature beginning on page 52,
