| Description |
Pat and William Schultz were on their yearly vacation to Copper Harbor, Michigan, and a "must" on their checklist of places to go and things to do was a detecting outing near an old copper mill. Surely a few coins had been dropped there in days past, and maybe even a mining tool or two. Some of the copper ore also contained silver, and what rockhound or "detector-prospector" wouldn't jump at the chance to collect some choice specimens? Strangely enough, although she knew they'd been recovered in the area from time to time, the one thing Pat hadn't even dreamed of was a prehistoric native copper spear point... but that's exactly what she found! Showing it to the owner of a local museum, she was told that it might be anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 years old, and is unusual in that it is fully intact. How did it all happen? |
