Heading Rare Memphis-made, Leech & Rigdon spur
Description Like most hunts, this one was a blend of camaraderie and friendly competition. So, when Tom Arnold and his friend Michael heard a familiar Rebel yell, they knew that Steve, their other hunting buddy, had retaken the lead. Racing through a ravine and up the knoll where Steve was hunting, they saw him proudly waving a brass spur! But once Steve had pointed out the bold "CS" cast into the back- the mark of a rare Memphis-made, Leech & Rigdon spur- he had to confess the rest: an inch-long piece had been broken off one side, and so far he hadn't found it. And he never did... mainly because that honor fell to Michael. Steve had kidded him about claim-jumping when he saw him detecting in the area where the spur had been dug, but fell silent as Michael pulled apart a plug of soil and exposed the missing piece! He handed it to Steve, who placed the fragment against the break on the spur and felt it click into place! Luckily, Steve and Michael have combined their collections for display, so the two pieces will remain reunited. The competitive spirit continues, however, and this shared find is sure to spur them on!
