Once Scott Johnson began scanning a local swimming area last Memorial Day weekend, it didn't take him long to locate his first target... appropriately enough, a Lincoln Memorial penny. Oh, well, at least it wasn't a pulltab. The next beep was a little better, however. Make that a lot better. After a bit of deft pinpointing, Scott scooped up a breathtakingly beautiful 1.75 carat diamond ring! The 14K yellow gold ring's brilliant solitaire was framed by a melee of eight channel-set stones (four on each side). Pretty? You bet! But another thrill awaited Scott a few days later, when he took the ring to a jeweler for appraisal. The verdict: genuine diamonds, worth well over $4,000. To which we can't resist replying, "Great, Scott!"
