Heading The massive timepiece is in need of major restoration.
Description "You won't find anything here, mister!" Well, Ed Ruff had heard that before, and he wasn't buying it this time, either. Still, the can-size signal near an old tenement building didn't sound very encouraging; and even after he probed 6" and saw that it was a watch, he didn't get too excited. Probably a toy or a cheapie, he thought. But then he hefted it, opened the case, and saw a bold "18K" mark inside! Engraved "L'Aiglon - Ancre de Precision " - "The Eagle - Anchor of Precision"- the massive timepiece is in need of major restoration. However, the handsome case alone is worth far more than bullion value. "It's my favorite find," Ed remarks, "and I wouldn't trade it for a brand-new Rolex! Well...maybe." By the way, you'll want to read his story about it, "On the Watch," in Silver & Gold 1997.
