Native gold takes many forms, but few as distinctive or dramatic as this wire-gold "bird's nest" found by Colorado nuggetshooters Jim Wojciechowski and Larry Boyes. According to Steve Rice of Colorado Nuggets, who recently appraised it for them, "The specimen is of museum quality... most exceptional." The nugget, found in the celebrated Breckenridge mining district, weighs 27.2 grams and is 4.5 cm long and 3.5 cm wide. |
