| Description |
After spending the morning at a Civil War show, Daniel Cintron and his Uncle Joe decided it was high time to stop admiring relics and starting finding them. Arriving at a nearby site around noon, Daniel quickly found his first large cent, an 1817 "15-Star," and another big signal urged him on. Prying up a chunk of iron, he still got a response. This time it was a soda can. He glumly reported the news to Joe, who replied, "Better check again!" Good thing, too. What sounded like more junk was instead an 1824 "Porter" slave tag, front-stamped "Lafar," with a glossy patina. Daniel's discovery should bring $3,000-3,500, according to slave tag specialist Rich Hartzog of World Exonumia www.exonumia.com. Yep... Uncle Joe was right! |
