| Description |
Frankly, the dirt-caked bracelet didn't look like much when Jeanne M. Bartels found it beside a park sidewalk, and it ended up with the rest of her junk-box "treasures." A couple of months later, while taking some other items to a jeweler friend for cleaning and repair, she brought along the bracelet on a whim and was astounded when told it was 18K gold (52 grams), with a 14K safety chain, and worth nearly $2,000! Some time after that, she was equally shocked, though less pleasantly so, to discover the bracelet was missing. Months passed before her husband Jim located it... in the pocket of one of his old shirts! "This what you've been looking for?" he asked. Jeanne says, "I didn't know whether to kiss him or kill him. Luckily for Jim, I decided upon the former!"
