| Description |
If horseshoes bring good luck, Noel Brock should have a fortunate future in store. Asked to find a lost antique gold & diamond combination pin/pendant made in the shape of a horseshoe, with a horse's head in the center, he accepted the challenge like a true treasure hunter! Many years ago, a World War I horse trader had given the unique equestrian adornment to a young lady as a graduation present. In time, it was passed on to one of her daughters at graduation. A jeweler valued it at $1,900; to its owner, though, it was priceless. Lost in 1998, it had defied the best efforts of several detectorists to find it on a least four occasions. Noel fared little better at first and was tempted to call it quits, but instead shifted his search to a spot hundreds of feet away. There it was... and here it is, in the Best Finds of 1999! Be sure to read Noel's narrative-"When Do You Give Up?"- beginning on page 60. |
