A veteran collector of Confederate militaria took one look at Larry Thompson's "C.S.A." plate and said simply, "It whistles 'Dixie'!" He paused, then added, "Incidentally, it may interest you to know that this one find has paid for your new detector!" Larry and his wife Renie purchased the machine last April (what better use for a tax refund?), but didn't have much of a chance to try it out until after the 4th of July. A friend from church had given them permission to hunt at an old homesite where loggers had been working. "After two hours of detecting, with not much to show for it, I unearthed a rectangular piece of metal with three hooks on the back. Then I turned it over and saw the letters C.S.A.
