CONFEDERATE ARMY PROVOST GUARD DETECTIVE'S BADGE
James A. Livesay
Appraised value unpublished by request.

One of only two known surviving examples, this Confederate Army detective's badge was discovered by James A. Livesay near Richmond, Virginia. After having little success searching a recently bulldozed area which had previously produced a variety of Civil War relics, he was about to leave when his detector sounded off over the shield-shaped, silver find that he describes as "the best of my lifetime."
