Get outside! Even if you aren't on the trail of the next King Tut's tomb, there are always organized treasure hunts and ways to get outdoors with other treasure hunting buddies! Share the adventure! Do it!

By using this site, you agree you have read, understand, and will abide by the following terms and conditions....

IN GENERAL

TreasureNet is about treasure hunting, metal detecting and prospecting. We expect our members to post messages generally related to these main topics. While we do provide some more generic forums, like Favorite Music, Today's Snapshot, etc., the general subject of TreasureNet is treasure, and treasure hunting. Thank you for helping us keep our content on topic.

Help keep the atmosphere at TreasureNet fun! Sniping, name calling, denegration and other generally negative or abusive actions are grounds for moderation. In extreme cases grounds for banning!

Respect our moderators. Our moderators are tasked with keeping TreasureNet family friendly, on topic, and civil. Not always an easy task. Insults, and personal attacks against our moderators will not be tolerated and may be grounds for account deletion and banning. If you've posted something, and it disappears, don't make a big deal out of it in another post! (You've probably violated some rule below!)

Keep the discussion civil, respectful and on topic.   (This is a family friendly website!)

A Word About TreasureNet "PM's" PM stands for "Personal Message". Personal messages may be reported by recipients to our moderators. This will include the content of the message. Due to this, users should NOT assume "Personal Messages" are "Private Messages". We reserve the right to read "PM's". Reported Personal Messages that indicate a violation of our terms may result in disabled PM's or banning.

TERMS

You may not.... Post, upload, send personal messages, transmit or otherwise make available any inappropriate, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, vulgar, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, or unlawful content.

You may not.... Abuse, defame, harass, threaten, stalk, or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.

You may not.... Post links to competing forums in regards to Treasure Hunting.

You may not.... Spam other users through personal messages or email.

You may not.... Post content that falsely expresses or implies that such content is endorsed by TreasureNet.

You may not.... Post images of checks or other negotiable instruments.

You may not.... Post images of documents revealing personal information, including, but not limited to, private addresses or telephone numbers; driver's licenses and other identification cards; Social Security, Selective Service, credit/debit card, Medicare, Medicaid, &/or insurance policyholder numbers.

You may not.... Create user accounts under false or fraudulent pretenses.

You may not.... Post, upload, email or transmit or otherwise make available any Content that infringes any copyright, patent, trademark, or other proprietary right of any party, unless You are the owner of the Rights or have the permission of the owner to post such content.

You may not.... Post, upload, email or transmit chain letters or otherwise make available messages that promote pyramid schemes, or disruptive commercial messages or advertisements, or anything else prohibited by law.

You may not.... Impersonate, imitate, pretend to be, or mock another member.

You may not.... Start a thread to specifically promote or discuss politics or religion or respond in a political or religious fashion to a post if it's not somehow tied to treasure hunting.

You may not.... Use TreasureNet services for any illegal purpose.

You may not.... Use any robots, spiders, site search/retrieval applications, or other such devices to retrieve or index any portion of TreasureNet services or collect information about users for any purpose including sending spam.

You may not.... Provide instructional information about illegal activities.

You may not.... Advertise, offer for sale, or for trade, or for free, tobacco, alcohol, or weapons / firearms (including knives)

You may not.... Advertise on behalf of any business, post links to a business page that you are in any way associated with, or have a username that represents a business. Only official site supporting vendors are permitted to do so.

You may not.... Post links to competitive affiliations/products within the vendor sections. Only official site supporting vendors are permitted to do so, within their own sections.

You may not... use the TreasureNet.com forums for any fundraising purposes.

You may not... request the donation of money or material goods, either to yourself or to any other person or organization.

You may not... sell, raffle, or auction items on behalf of any person or organization.

You may not... Promote physical harm or injury against any group or individual or transmit any viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, or any items of a destructive nature.

You may not... Post PM's (TreasureNet personal messages), email messages, or any other form of correspondence from other people that were intended or assumed to be solely for you.

You may not... Upload avatars that... exploit or ridicule human deformity, disability, inferiority or upload avatars that contain personal attacks and/or foul language.

You may not.... Insult moderators, or denigrate the duties they perform.

You may not.... Act as a proxy for another member.

You may not.... Edit any member's words in a quote in any way other than to shorten the quote to isolate specific statements to reply to.

TreasureNet is not responsible for removing or editing any post. Information you post WILL NOT be considered copyrighted or otherwise protected from use by anyone else. We make no guarantees or warrantees as to the length of time posted information will remain online. We reserve the right to delete or modify any post, avatar or image, at any time, and for any reason. We reserve the right to limit any users' access to any feature, including the ability to search, post, browse, upload avatars, etc.. We reserve the right to ban any user, and/or delete any user account (including all posts) at any time, for any reason. Bans are not subject to member review, approval, protest, or appeal.

You agree to keep your password confidential.

Users may disagree with the decisions or actions of the moderators and/or administrators, however, disagreements, criticism and the like are not to be aired within the forums. Please feel free to PM the person directly rather than air your dirty laundry in public.

Any abuse towards our staff and/or management will result in immediate suspension of your account.

POST LONGEVITY

There are times we may need to free up hard disk space, and may delete older threads by date. There are other times when whole sections may be deleted, or changed. We make no guarantees as to the lifespan of a post or thread, or attachment. We reserve the right to delete any post at any time for any reason.

FORUM GUIDELINES

Posts should be suitable for all ages, on topic, concise, and courteous.

If you disagree with another member's post, make your comments in a polite and respectful manner.

Don't "SHOUT" in large type. Use bold, red, or other special type only when necessary. (Exception: birthday greetings, special congratulations, etc.)

Don't use profane or obscene language.

Don't attack, provoke, insult, or deliberately offend anyone.

All members are equal, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, education, or experience. Never take a superior tone with, or "talk down" to, anyone.

When the purpose of the original post has been fulfilled, the thread should end. If you want to talk about something else, start a new thread in an appropriate forum.

If another member has seriously violated these rules, please notify a moderator immediately. Be specific. Include any URL's including the http info. However, don't just report suspicions, or bad feelings about other members.

ORGANIZED HUNTS & EVENTS

TreasureNet does not officially endorse, promote, or facilitate organized treasure hunts or events. Members at this site may organize various hunts and events, but TreasureNet in no way guarantees the safety or honesty of its participants or organizers, or of any hunt/events legitimacy, or the entertainment value of such hunts/events. TreasureNet advises all users to exercise caution when meeting people through this or any other online medium.

STATUS OF MATERIALS POSTED

By posting your information at TreasureNet, you grant TreasureNet full publishing and redistribution rights to it. Please do not post copyrighted materials, unless you are the author.

CHARTER MEMBERSHIPS

We reserve the right to ban any Charter Member, and/or delete any Charter Member account (including all posts) at any time, for any reason. There are no refunds on Charter Memberships.

The purpose of Personal Pages is for the posting of messages related to metal detecting and treasure hunting activities ONLY.

We reserve the right to delete ANY Personal Page - or content within personal pages, at any time for any reason.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

In some circumstances we will ask you to provide us with certain personal information, such as when you request certain catalogs, register in order to post in forums, make purchases, and by submitting your information in connection with entering certain TreasureNet-sponsored contests and/or promotions.

We will not disclose your personal information to anyone, except to the intended recipient. For example, if you request a catalog from Mr G's Fine Things, the only third parties that will receive that information will be Mr. G's Fine Things.

By creating a TreasureNet forum account, or by joining our mailing list, you agree to accept periodic mailings from TreasureNet. You may remove your name from the mailing list at any time by requesting that we delete your forum account. Please be aware though, if you decide not to receive email from TreasureNet you will no longer be able to post messages! If you do not want to receive email from us, please do not create an account!

We log your IP address, operating system and browser software. We analyze this data in whole to determine traffic patterns, determine webpage design, and in turn, hopefully, build a better website. The purpose of this website is for the friendly exchange of information about metal detecting and treasure hunting. TreasureNet may not be used as a springboard to launch personal attacks of any kind. Use of words such idiot, moron, retarded, lunatic, ignorant, and other defaming names or language may not be used here when naming or indicating individuals.

Example: There are a lot of idiots in this world might be acceptable. You Mr. John Smiiiith are an idiot, would not be acceptable and may be grounds for an instant and permanent ban. Please understand and respect our need to limit our liabilities, and to maintain a friendly atmosphere.

A WARNING ABOUT ONLINE FORUM CLASSIFIEDS

In recent years, online classifieds scams have increased and have affected many people. They pose threats to both sellers and buyers. Typical Examples: (there are others!)

A scammer posing as a seller may post an ad for an item that he/she doesn't really have.

The seller will then ask for money, and after receiving it, refer the buyer to the shipping company who is supposed to send the item to the buyer. The buyer waits for few days and contacts the seller, but there's no answer. The buyer tries again for couple of more days... but still no answer. Finally the buyer decides to call the shipping company with the reference number for the item. The shipping company replies that they don't have anything related to this reference number or it is not for your item.

A scammer posing as a buyer may ask for the item to be shipped, and promise "the check is in the mail..." but the check never arrives. There is an almost unlimited variety of potential scams. From simple to complex, from petty amounts to millions of dollars. We strongly urge you to use caution when making deals online!

If anyone makes a statement such as "I am a valued/respected member of TreasureNet, trust me", BE WARY! If anyone makes a statement such as "the operators at TreasureNet.com know and trust me", THAT IS FALSE! We do not vouch for the credibility or honesty of anyone at TreasureNet! (but we still love most of you! ;))

Be especially wary of any dealings with people outside your local area.

We recommend you always verify the person's identity and location you are dealing with before completing any deal... Have them call you, and confirm their phone number. If their phone number is blocked or unidentified USE EXTREME CAUTION! While confirming their phone number is no guarantee of their legitimacy or honesty, it is one thing you can do to lessen the risk of being scammed!
