  1. no beep but register

Some detectors use two different circuits for the audio signal and the display. On the “iffy” targets you might only trigger one.
  2. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED I found this in the San Gabriel valley river bed! What is it!?

Shiney. But I do not think it is "gold ore". Also doubtful it is a meteorite. When you look at a new aircraft carrier or interstate bridge they are also shiney . . . but not made of gold or meteorites.
  3. Rock? Meteorite? Or crystal? ITS MAGNETIC!! 🧲

As an ore of iron it can be in a matrix that makes it less magnetic than the more "pure" lodestone.
  4. Possible Oak Island Solution

Do you know of ANY Nazi treasure that was buried over 30 ft deep? Not just in an abandoned mine or warehouse where it was readily available? They were just protecting it from bombing. Not putting it beyond ready access. Lots of stories of Nazi treasure that haven't panned out . . . much like...
  5. Possible Oak Island Solution

When I see the treasure I will believe. But so far there has been jack shit produced and it seems to be a total folly all around. Whether Oak Island or Rhode Island: exactly what do you think has been secreted away in an impossible spot to recover and why? Who hides capital where it is...
  6. ✅ SOLVED Is this a musket sideplate?

I would say a rifle or fowling piece rather than a musket, or, at that size, likely a pistol. Does not look military.
  7. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Any idea what this rock is?

    I'm going with phyllite.
  8. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Ammo mystery.

Not that I have ever heard. They were originally in 7mm or 8mm Mauser chambering (7.92mm) but as surplus many had a 7.62mm bore and barrel stamping and were converted to 7.62x51mm (.308 NATO). Your case is definitely 7.62mm Russian (7.62 x 39mm)
  9. I guess I'm getting old.

Yeah. If I had raised a kid the way my Dad raised me I'd be in prision. Spare the rod and spoil the fun.
  10. Oak Island is closed until further notice - 2022

The same sword (not just similar - the very same object based on the stains and dents) was found to have been sold on the Italian version of ebaY a couple years prior. It was a modern tourist item from Italy. The ebay listing is no longer available but it was at one time and posted if you...
  11. Digital cameras CAN see buried gold

Tjer There is no gold plating on Susan B. Anthony dollars. Nada. Zip. None. They are copper and nickel. That's it.
  12. Using fishing depth finding sonars units for metal detecting

I have a Raymarine Dragonfly 4 Pro ($300+/-) that I put on my kayak or sailboat and it is amazing what detail it shows of things like submerged trees and structures (a local reservior has an old bridge and road and LOTS of stumps under the current surface). The detail setting is "DownVision"...
  13. Oak Island is closed until further notice - 2022

I believe originally it was just “marks on a limb” and no rope or block.
  14. Oak Island is closed until further notice - 2022

Can't speak for Singlestack: but for me the evidence is the lack of evidence after 28 groups and 160+ years (first "legend" wasn't printed until the 1860's) digging at what would be an illogically deep and ridiculously difficult "pit" looking for nobody knows what that may never have been placed...
