  1. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED brooch id needed.

I also have an item like this from a site that dated no later than the Civil War. I was told it was part of a candlestick holder, and marked it solved, but I still don't agree with that determination and think it was uniform or clothing related.
  2. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Found by a river. No clue

This rock occurs naturally. Don't be discouraged, we all found things like this when we started. You have to look to find!
  3. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Is it a button?

This is very cool. In Tice's book there are a number of 1700-1800 buttons with this design. I would place it in that time frame and suggest that if it is more than 35 mm its a rosette, less a button or pin. Very nice find.
  4. What is it?

Possible discoidal, though these are typically created out of more exotic material.
  5. Modern or old?

This is a grinding or sharpening stone, like we would use modern cutting boards.
  6. Carved wooden something

It isn't particularly old, it would not have been preserved that long if wood unless frozen or in an area where it wouldn't be exposed to elements (cave, overhang). I have seen these before and I believe they are 1700s-1800s art, and possibly Native American.
  7. Is this anything?

Agree with all it is not natural. Please mark this solved. But, you have to keep looking - that's the only way to find anything!!!
  8. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Is this a treasure site ? Is this tomb real ?

I agree that it looks like a early to mid nineteenth century stone walled gravesite.
  9. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED OK guys it’s been a while but I’m perplexed

That's a glass cutter,. It is bent and missing the two rowels, but that's what it is. Not sure how old, but you had a window maker or worker, perhaps even an artist there!
  10. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Indian Artifact or just a rock?

This is a piece of slate that has been in an alluvial setting. They are easy to mistake as relics, and may have had some purpose, but they occur naturally.
  11. Rarest Confederate Buttons?

I have found two buttons that many Civil War collectors say are "rare". One, a manuscript R Confederate Rifleman's button, Tice states he has only seen six examples. The other was just identified as a Virginia Militia Staff Officer's button, also noted as "extremally rare". I also often talk...
  12. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Odd Virginia Confederate Button W. Wildt & Son

I recovered this button locally at a site that has produced relics dating from 1810 to present. I believe it is a Virginia State Seal button, probably Civil War, but the backmark is very odd. The button is brass, but not too corroded for having been in the ground over 150 years. It has been...
  13. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Possible Droop Wing Eagle Confederate Item. Civil War?

I have hit what appears to be a Confederate Cavalry camp in North Alabama. Several plain flat buttons and odd iron objects with Sharps and Maynard bullets occurring with Roundballs. This is the first item that could be identified as North or South. It is a 35mm, heavily corroded item that...
