  1. Cache Hunting Tip

Is "Cache hunting" in the 6 or 7 manual or are they different editions of the same book?
  2. Anyone have a hip mounted MXT for sale???

I would like to have a good used hip mount MXT or the kit to make one. It doesn't have to be the ALL Pro model. Let me know what you have with pics, info, etc. Thanks!!
  3. Where is gold deposited downstream of abandoned bridge support/pier?

Thank You So Much!!! I will definitely try that area!!
  4. Where is gold deposited downstream of abandoned bridge support/pier?

Thank You for the info!! The water has caused a V-shaped deposit around the pier-the front, leading edge being the point of the V and the "legs" of the V are beside and downstream of the pier. What area would you dredge first?
  5. Where is gold deposited downstream of abandoned bridge support/pier?

Hello All, I have a spot that I want to dredge that is downstream of a bridge support/pier that has been abandoned. Where does gold tend to get deposited around/behind such structures? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Old Dirtbag
  6. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

I will do my best to post some Google Earth pics of the bends ASAP. I like this conversation, I am learning a lot.
  7. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

If the creek meanders, does it tend to deposit gold differently? Where should I test/dredge in the creek?
  8. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

Water is standing in both oxbows in one aerial photo from 2004. The current channel was muddy in the pic. The older, outer oxbow is very shallow, but holding water when pic taken.
  9. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

Could there be some formation underground that is making the creek make such a sharp turn?
  10. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

The water current is relatively slow now. There is a dam controlling the water flow about 20 miles upstream. On satillite views of the bend, there are two more filled in "U Turns" below the current creek channel. I mean that you can see where the creek used to flow, but was later filled in...

Thanks for the info! I will report back with my finds and observations.
  14. Where is the "Gold Line" when stream takes a "U Turn?"

Hello All, I have been dredging in a tributary of this stream and finding some small flakes and pickers. The main channel of the stream makes a dramatic "U turn" or more like a "V turn" in the river channel. Where should I dredge in hopes of following the "Gold Line" in the sharp turn in...
  15. How does one find the "Gold Line" in a stream using a Whites MXT?

Thanks for the responses!!! I should have said Relic and Prospect mode in my first question. One article I read stated that the Author used Relic mode and the large Max coil with discrimination set at about 2 and that it would pick up the tiny nuggets or pickers. Any suggestions are welcome...
