I'd say we've dug around 15 shields in 2 years time. That is unusual for sure. Not certain why there are so many nickels around down here...
In KY I saw many dug, and dug a good amny myself. Probably averaged 3 per year there though.
Looking at making a recon trip to Shelby next week to see what it looks like and if there might be any problems. Let me know if you are interested.

I haven't found out anything yet, trying not to put too much out there. Did get some good info from a guy you use to ride motorcycles in that area of the woods. I want to do a recon run down there and just see how it looks now. Hope to make a couple of calls tomorrow, let ya'll know what we come up with. Don't have a problem with a weekday hunt, less traffic to deal with.
