  1. ✅ SOLVED A small grooved metal pipe/tube

1 3/8" long and approximately 1/4" in diameter. Has a little metal "rod" attached to a rectangular piece of metal just inside one of the ends. Makes me think it's a hose/pipe/plumbing sort of thing...
  2. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Toasted King George III Halfpenny?

I found this a couple years ago on a MD Eastern Shore beach and never completely identified it. Based on a seemingly right facing bust and the letters "GEOR" It might be a King George III halfpenny of some kind but I can't make out much of anything of the reverse. I'm looking for images of any...
  3. Seven Stone Ring Found - Costume Jewelry Or Real Deal?

Went to a local beach I've detected before. Found some loose change, fishing weights, a Canadian loonie (that's a first for me), and this rather stunning ring. This rings up as a nickel on my Garret Ace 250, so I highly doubt it's silver. Unfortunately it's unmarked; that and the small...
  4. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED White and Blue Porcelain Lid? Any Ideas?

Found on the shore of a local creek on the Eastern Shore of MD. I've found numerous dump sites and relics there (mainly bottles) spanning from the turn of the 20th century up through present day trash. Lid is about 3" in diameter with about 2 3/8" diameter inside the interior lid edge.
  5. Buck Glass Company Jar Lid I Found At My Local Creek

I went to the creek near my house today to walk the dogs with my dad along the shore. In the past I've found many glass bottles and other dump site relics from the early to mid 20th century at this spot and several others along the creek. Today I found this beauty of a glass jar lid sitting...
  6. 🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Some kind of hose attachment? If not what the heck is it?

First thought was some kind of hose/pipe attachment but the three metal fins are peculiar. 1/2" diameter on bottom, 1/4" diameter on top, 3/4" tall
  7. My FIRST ever silver and it's a sterling ring!!!

I was out detecting one of my local beaches for a couple hours today while it was nice and warm (50 degrees and sunny) and while I found about 73 cents in clad, it was all after the fact of an awesome find. My first target was a pulltab, but my second target that rang up as a quarter turned out...
  8. Old Metal Thingie With Sun/Flower & Clover Motif

Found this today in my mom's yard in Sudlersville MD, the house dates to 1910 but I did find a 1850s State Militia Panel Plate Buckle here before. Judging by the patina it's likely copper or bronze. It's torn to shreds but it has this beautiful sun or flower & clover motif in the center...

  11. Mar-Del Canning Company Token

Found this token in my mother's yard in Sudlersville, Maryland. An aluminum 4-cent (?) Mar-Del Canning Company Token. This one is marked with Armstrong, Delaware but apparently there are examples from Ashland, Wye, Carville and Barclay according to the Maryland Merchant Tokens Index. If...

  13. A Few Unusual Things Found In The Ground

These are a few unusual finds i've made with my Garrett Ace 250. Anything you all can tell me about them, I'd most appreciate. A large iron ring that is a whopping 3" in diameter. A small copper ring? or something that's a hair underneath an inch in diameter. A small metal ball that weighs...
  14. Toasted Old Copper! King George? Colonial?

Hi everyone, I found what seems to be a toasted old copper coin while metal detecting on a local Chesapeake bay beach here on the Eastern Shore of MD. The most I can make of it are some lines and what seems to be an "EOR' word fragment; this thing is worn down to a disc. In addition to pictures...
  15. 1850s STAR MILITIA BELT PANEL PLATE! CANNOT BELIEVE MY EYES!

I was metal detecting today with my trusty Garrett Ace 250 at my mom's new house in Sudlersville, MD (Upper Eastern Shore), which apparently dates back to 1910. I had detected there once before and had found a bunch of clad and a '57 wheatie; the wheat had raised my hopes for this hunt today...

  17. A Couple of Cool Finds from the creek nearby my place

Yesterday I went on a walk to the public creek just down the road from my house. It was a very low tide so I decided to walk the shoreline and see what I could find. I ended up finding a couple of cool things from one of multiple sites where I believe there are old dump/wash-up sites. The finds...
  18. Brass ship spike/nail? Found on Beach 0.3 Nautical Miles Downstream from Sloop Wreck

Yesterday, I posted a thread here called a Few Whatsits and Two Bullets from Beach near Coast Guard. One of the items I asked for help identifying in particular now stands out after I read one of the responses I received: Icewing told me this may be a broken old brass ship's spike or...
  19. A Few Whats-its and Two Bullets From Metal Detecting a Beach near Coast Guard Station

I went to a public beach near a Coast Guard station 10 minutes down the road to metal detect there with my Garrett Ace 250 again... I found 7 different lead fishing weights/sinkers, a modern quarter and a 1959 memorial penny, some trash, and the stuff pictured below My dad believes these are...
  20. Found a Cooper Bros Chestertown MD Bottle in a Creek. Found out Company's Info Today

I am one happy guy today. My quest to find out what the Cooper Bros Company in Chestertown, MD was started a year or two ago when I pulled up this barnacled beauty from the depths of a local river called Still Pond Creek: I know it's hard to see from the picture, but this an embossed soda...
