I hadn't been out detecting for a couple weeks and today's temperature was in the fifties, so it was a fairly good day to go out. I had two places picked out to hunt. When I got to the first one, I saw another treasure hunter had beat me so I went on to the next one. It was a wood chip play area...

  8. Todays finds

Today's finds I found a new little park to detect... Before it was a park, it was a private nursery that was started back in the early 1920's. In the early 1960's, it became a retail nursery and in one corner of the park, I found the old parking lot from the 60's that had never been detected. I...

  10. Russian coins?

I found these two coins at a park in Seattle. I'm not sure what counrty the small one is from but the larger one (it's silver colored) is definately from Russia. They were just a few feet apart from each other and laying on top of the ground.
  11. This years first time out..

I finally had a chance to go out this year. Although it was drizzling rain, I MDed for about half an hour and found this silver ring. Inside the ring it is stamped 925. I also found a few clad coins. The rain started up and I had to leave early. I have a good feeling about this new spot and...

The temp. reached 39 degrees today and there was no wind so I went out for the first time this year to a park that I hadn't been to before ;D. As soon as I started swinging I began to get a good coin signal so I took out my trusty digger and started to dig up the coin. No way! The ground was...

I bought my White's detector in May of 2001 after reading the forum and other articles on different detectors. Anyway, I setteled on the DFX, drove 50 miles to a dealer and could hardly wait to get it home. After reading the manual several times and chargeing the battery overnight, I started out...

I went out this morning to a couple different parks and found LOTS of coins.. I found 106 coins in just three hours. The oldest one was a 1941 nickel. It's rare that I find anything less than the 1950's. Here on the West Coast a good find for us is jewelry and seldom an old coin. The oldest coin...
  18. A question for the group....

Today I found a really thin gold chain. I saw the end of the chain sticking out of the sand. When I ran the detector (Whites DFX in the relic mode) there was no indication that it was there.... No sound, no vid, no nuthin'.... Nothing appears to be wrong... it will detect larger object like my...
  19. An interesting find...

This is a lucky charm (hopefully) that I found a couple weeks ago in a park. I says "keep me and you will have good luck" on one side and "golden anniversary KLAUS"on the other side. This was under a swing in the sand. It had obviously been lost recently even though the penny is dated 1956. On...
