    I dug this on my property today, was a solid 4 inches deep. Pretty certain it’s a musket ball. Would appreciate any feedback. I cleaned it up with water and a toothbrush. It’s lead. Thanks.

    The other possibility is it might be 1/2 of a horse bit. The hook could be where the reign attached. Definitely an interesting piece. Thanks for the replies. The outer edge of the end holes appear to be worn thinner than the rest of the piece.

    Swinging today on an old road bed made during the civil war near Kennesaw Mtn. Heavily overgrown and roots. . Not much but a chain, a REM-UMC 32 WCF casing, and some melted lead.
