  1. FNG w/CTX 3030

Welcome from Atlanta. I purchased a new CTX3030 about 2 months ago. You will get your best advice right here on this forum. Ask any questions. Some very experienced (not me) CTX3030 users on this sub-forum. And and they will help no matter how simple your question might be. I had the Nox 800 for...
  2. 50 Pound back packin`

That is some rugged country. My wife last Oct hiked 3 days rim to rim in the grand canyon with a 35 lb pack. She made it, but she said it was the hardest hike she every did and would not ever do it again. She said one missed step in some areas you would plunge 200 - 500 feet and no one would...

  4. Deus II is on Order; Now A Troubling Question

When you compare the 800 with the CTX3030 there are easy to identify differences. I have owned both, Nox 800 3 years , my new CTX3030 about 45 days. Price is one, weight is another, quality of build is another and the CTX X-Y (FE-CO) color display with target trace is a huge difference. But...
  5. Deus II is on Order; Now A Troubling Question

the Equinox did not obsolete the CTX3030, at least for me. I sold my 800 last month and bought a CTX3030 and I am a happy camper. Not saying, the 800 wasn't good it just was not good for me and my type of hunting in very trashy areas filled with aluminum junk.
  6. Deus II is on Order; Now A Troubling Question

I have owned both. what type of hunting do you do? Real trashy areas full of pop tops, pull tabs, bottle caps, crew caps, can slaw, etc? Then I can give my opinion.
  7. Coiltek 14×9″ DD Coil for Minelab CTX 3030 question

I do civil war relic hunting and silver coin hunting in very metallic trashy parks and areas along creeks in urban Atlanta. I am wondering what your experience has been with Coiltek 14×9″ DD Coil for Minelab CTX 3030. Would it be better for my type of hunting than the stock coil I am now...
  8. US Pennies compositions & TID's on CTX3030

Ok, lots of corrections here. I should not have created this chart from the very small print out of "A Guide Book of United States Coins 2019 by R.S. Yeoman, 72nd edition when I had this head cold. Here is the corrected file. I hope I got it right this time, I don't wish to mislead anyone with...

  10. US Pennies compositions & TID's on CTX3030

Ever wondered why pennies ring up so differently? Well you probably knew, but here are some more detailed results tested on the CTX3030 in the Ferrous-coin mode with the pennies on a patch of ground cleared of any other metal. Correction caught by Cudamark: You are correct. 62-82 has .950 copper...
  11. Question about using Nox 800 in trashy urban areas

I tried it. put a pull tab on top of a dime and you get the dime audio and Correct TID and nothing about the pull tab or pop top. I didn't really believe his video, but I duplicated his results. And in a trashy park. but seems to work only no pull tabs and pop tops and some can slaw. But that...
  12. Question about using Nox 800 in trashy urban areas

I did forget one piece of positive info on the 800 and coins in trashy parks. Learned it from a guy on the forum who posted a video explaining it. Saw it about two weeks before I sold my 800. Hunt trashy parks in 4khz and it makes the pull tabs and pop tops invisible and yet the coins appear...
  13. Question about using Nox 800 in trashy urban areas

I am finding that out. I do have a much improved ratio of junk to good stuff. Finding more good targets than junk. But I am not doubting how good the Equinox is for the majority of people. I think it is very well established as one of the best detectors released in the last three years along...
  14. Question about using Nox 800 in trashy urban areas

I have heard over and over you should use 50 tones on the 800 to hear the nuances to separate or determine the good targets from the metallic junk targets. My problem is a lost in my hearing of some high frequency tones. So maybe that was hindering my efforts for 3 years. The CTX gives more...
  15. Question about using Nox 800 in trashy urban areas

I have owned the 800 since March 2018. I hunt in mid-town Atlanta below Buckhead, east Atlanta over near Decatur and north Atlanta 10 miles north of I-285. Where I hunt is in public parks, along creeks, some old home sites and in short near where tons of people live, play and work. Metro...

  17. Anyone hunt Civil War Relics in Atlanta 1980's?

Anyone hunt Civil War Relics in Atlanta 1980's? I am curious to know what it was like in the 80's metal detecting for Civil War relics in metro Atlanta back in the 1980's. Areas like Decatur, Collier road, Cobb county, Dallas, GA. If you know or know of anyone please send me a private message...
  18. Is it true the CTX users are switching to the Equinox instead??

I have had more hunting time on the CTX lately and love it. Do I miss more targets than with the 800? Maybe some, but heck, I was missing targets with every detector I have ever owned. I have confidence in my ability with the CTX that I never achieved with the 800. That was just me. I am not...
