Hi claypile. Be careful but keep on living. I am a wheelchair driver since 1982. I stopped flying small airplanes but kept driving. I gave up metal detecting 2 years ago but took up coin-roll hunting. Don't let fear override wisdom.

releventchair is correct. That test-drive, with a borrowed detector, in a park or place that you are likely to hunt, is very important.
I use a manual w-chair and it took time to get used to the interference of the footrests and other parts of my old-style chair...
