    I found this plain front flat button recently and was wondering if my age of 1816-1830 is correct? According to McGuinn and Bazelon's book Lewis and Tomes were in business from 1816-1833 in England and 1819-1826 in New York. No buttons are believed to have been manufactured for the firm after 1830.

    Can anyone tell me anything about this button. Or it may be a cuff link? About 1/2" wide and 1" long. It was made by Trelon, Weldon and Wells/ Paris. This company dates from 1814-1865. I think it may be from the latter period but I don't know.

    Not the best but I will take them. Eagle A coat size with a W H Smith & Co/ New York rmdc backmark, Navy cuff but I can't make out the backmark and a small silver piece with script lettering that, I think, reads Sturges.

    Found this 1851 Trime and a plain flat button at one of my permissions. Buddy found a confederate pewter block eye and an 1839 dime and my other buddy found an 1818 large cent, Navy cuff button and a nice civilian button. Sorry, I don't have pictures of my buddie's finds.

    Can anyone tell me about this button? I can't remember seeing this backmark before. And, does it look legitimate? There is wear on the front and it looks like "REST" under the cannon but if you look close it does read "REGT".
