Got out with a couple new friends in our area who also metal detect. We drove out to an old Stage Stop that was in use from the 1850's and was finally bypassed around 1870. It has been a livestock area ever since. We have had some great finds in this area over the years but the weeds are all...
We have only two Coinstar Machines in our hick town. Safeway I checked at least twice a day. The other is at Walmart and I don't have very good luck with that one. What we do have is an abundance of tweekers who use these machines everyday.
So while grabbing a bag of doggie treats at Walmart...
The coinstar has been down for a week, but was back up today!!! So far, 3 Rosie's and today a great 64-D Quarter. Only 2 silver dimes metal detecting.....I need to get out more!:BangHead::laughing7::laughing7:
After some new snow, I had only once place to go. But it has been too long not getting out! The old army base near us was saved from the snow lately so away I went solo. Looked around the map looking for an area we haven't really pounded. Was just hoping for a few wheat's to get some dig time in...
Walking the old road from the Ghost Town
Well, we have hit this old ghost town really hard. Last week while down the old road about a mile at an old home site, I had found the seated dime in the road. Thought, maybe it was time to just start walking the old road that leads out of town towards...
So the son got home from college this week and brought the rain with him:BangHead:
With a break in the storms out the door we went and headed for out faithful old ghost town. After a few hours and nothing to show, we drove down the old road to a couple home sites that sit about a mile away...
It's been dry at our local CoinStar lately. I check it at least once a day when I'm in town and this morning was the normal routine. Get my coffee, meet my business partners and I walk over and check the machine. So as i'm walking over, I see a toned coin lying on the ground and knew it was...
Hello folks.
A few weeks back, my son and I were out in the middle of nowhere (a happy place for most:laughing7:) working an old stage stop on the Nevada side of the border. This area is very desolate and finds have been few but just enough for us to keep coming back. A couple of seated coins...
The last few months have been busy around here and not much time spent here. Son is back in school and my buddy just retired, so I'm left at work, with a lot of OT lately....YUCK!!!
Anyway. My buddy and I got out at least this weekend the day before deer season and he has the new HF coil for...
As usual, a quick look into the reject tray and I see a few coins. Grab them as I walk out the door; a little shake of the hand; and I hear that silver sound!!! This Walmart is checked by everyone I know as well so finally, it paid off! 1953-S :laughing7:
Got out for some alone time at our local military base. Was just hoping for a pocket of wheat's and maybe a silver or something. Call my son and told him to meet me when he got out of class since the weather was nice for a couple of days.
Started in an area which we have only walked across...
You all will laugh......So last night I had all the gear ready to head out today for some swing time and get the doggies out and about. I wake up to snow, wind and just cold. So, that was that and I go back to bed till the wife gets off work. She gets home, and leaves me the "to do list" since I...
Hello all. Been around for a couple years. This is my favorite photo so far. My son (Wyatt) and I in Southern France (Basque Country) April of 2017. This was a hunt of a life time for us............Hopefully we will have more like this in the years to come!!!!!:laughing7:
[FONT=Book Antiqua]Got out today for some much needed time away from civilization. After a long weekend of work my hunting buddy and I set out. Of course it didn't matter to me where we went so we went to an area where some nice finds have come from in the past. Old seated dimes and lots of...
It's been a couple of weeks since we moved our son to Reno so he can attend UNR. Of course that meant my swinging time has been much less of of late since he has been gone but he decided to come home over the three day weekend. This of course meant I had my hunting partner for a couple of days...
Well we knew after our trip from Europe we would be back to finding the normal wheat pennies and such; we still were happy to just be out and about. It certainly wasn't like finding the coins from the 16, 17 or 1800's but hey, it's still out and about! :laughing7:
We have been debating on...
Hey folks. I posted the long story on the Metal Detecting page. But I was wanting to expand to a larger group and ask for the guys who have experience on the older stuff from Europe. I have added a couple photos of the piece my son found. It has some great markings. It weighed in at 2.5 grams...
Well hello all!! :hello:
The family and I made it back stateside on Monday and what a trip it was. We traveled to Southern France and Northern Spain. We spent most of our time in the Basque region to meet up with family. First things first though...............
While searching the best places...
Well, we have had months and months of rain out our way and most places are wet and muddy! :BangHead:
Today, we had a beautiful day with 60 degree weather. The doggies have been inside as have we so it was time to get out and do some swinging. We hit one of our favorite sites just to get out...
