Hello all,,,
It was a bit breezy today which made the mid 50 degree temps feel just a wee bit chilly but I couldn't stay in the house another minute. I wasn't feeling all that great so I decided to hit one of our local tot-lots to help keep the dig'n to a minimun. I did fairly well by my standards, as I don't dig much clad in the places I usually hunt, and ended the day with a total of $1.94 which gave me my (1000th+1) clad coin for the year. I also recovered another religious pendant and although it's not silver it's still in good condition.

Hope you all are doing well and have a great day, Leon...

Congrats on 1001 coins! Are you sure that pendant is not silver? Might have a mark on the ring attached. HH, Mike

Thanks guys,,,
I took a closer look at the medal, (Medal is what most places selling them online call them. I would still call it a pendant, or a charm.) and I believe it may just be made from "Oxidized Silver" like the ones shown here. ( Although this one is a little larger than the ones shown there:( 2.5mm H x 1.6mm W )

If you look around the words "For/us" on the reverse you can see tiny air bubbles which I think adds more evidence that it may simply be Oxidized Silver. I found a definition of Oxidized Silver at this site. Oxidized silver is produced when atomic oxygen reacts with silver. I didn't bother to look up "atomic oxygen", ;D what ever that is. lol...

Also, most of the medals I did find that were Sterling Silver all have a wide, flat band around the edge with script on it, such as the ones shown here.

But, that's one of the things I love most about this hobby, is the fact that it teaches you so many different things... ??? huh?
Again, Thanks for the comments and have a great day, Leon...

SO. Leon's the one to blame for all this wind and cold in Alabama, huh? :D Brrrrr...it was cold here today! That's a nice looking pendant, Leon! Great that you could get out and hunt.

Nana

And that's a great idea on the clad counter too! :)
