There's a very lengthy watershed near me that is fed by numerous tributaries. That's where I found this beast yesterday. Not just this one actually, there's more. I loaded the ATV down!

Over the years there has been countless claims of a picture being this or that.
Yet 99% of every claim are never backed up with an assay report on the object.
Why is that?
Are we to believe every statement that the claim of this or that is a PM.
Not saying your find isn't or is, I just like the "Here's the proof".
Type of guy.
For all I know it's a melted down aluminum :dontknow:

You are going to have to have a SEM test done on it or an X ray diffraction test. Could be most anything without a test. Your area isn't known for large precious metals deposits.
While I agree on needing to be tested, there is history of gold, copper, and silver deposits in Palmer Alaska. Not sure on the size of those deposits, but from a little googling it seems they are the type associated with native silver. So it is not as far fetched as it might seem. We just have to wait and see what confirmation snowdog has.

Then you are wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. You,ve filed a claim right? Posting such a find on a very public forum without a claim could mean you,re not wealthy beyond the specimens you brought back. I hope it,s what you think,we eagerly await the assay.Meanwhile I,ve got a plane to catch and a claim to file, just in case.

Any idea on purity? is it a galena or actually a silver nugget? 17 pounds is crazy!
Galena no. Galena doesn't resemble this at all, and lead won't form into pure lead naturally anyway, contrary to what many believe. Purity I am unsure of. But I aim to ship to the Canadians shortly. Anyone want it for spot or it's getting melted down...

It's from an un-claimable public area. But the system is fed by huge faults and a lot of tributaries. In my experience, I haven't met anyone else patient enough to learn silver in any capacity...

I'm currently working with a big Canadian refiner, I will let you know. However previous shipment is A + for Ag. I'll share pics later...

You can take one shortcut. Get a small piece and do a specific gravity test. Instructions are on the net.

Galena will have a specific gravity about 7.4. Silver 10 to 11. Platinum about 14-19.
Sylvanite and calaverite are possibilities Calaverite has a specific gravity about 9. Sylvanite 8.2.
