Bearing the date 1744, its columns bear abbreviations of the words "PLUS/ULTRA" that appear on period coins of the realm. The "Pillar Dollar" coin device was the product of New World colonial mints; Spain did not produce coins bearing this design.

Very nice and rare. The design is similar to that on this Pillar Dollar from one of the Florida Keys shipwrecks of 1733.
