17th-18th century Baldric Buckle, 1804 half cent, and shiny flat buttons

Always dig your can signals, even if you’re surrounded with cans. I almost didn’t, or more precisely, came back to and out popped a beauty baldric buckle. Despite being listed in Whitehead’s book as 17th century, a friend and I think these buckles were used through the mid 18th century. This is the first of this type symmetrical buckle I’ve dug whole.

Also a nice 1804 half cent

And the rest. And look at the gilt left on these flat buttons?!! Only god knows how many flat buttons I’ve dug but I have few that match the glint on these. A rosette, reign bell, and an ihp round out the finds

Steve, sometimes we're rewarded with a nice find when we dig those high 'aluminum tones'.
Congrats on your Half Cent find, love the amount of gilt on those flat buttons too.

Thanks, the gilt on those couple buttons was very surprising. I should have included pics of one that had some on the front and shank loop. It’s my top button with surviving gilt

Nice hunt Steve. Personally, I would call the Baldric buckle a military sling buckle. My friend found one identical to yours and Don Troiani ID it as a pre 1750 military sling buckle.

Always like finding the Crotal Bells, pick the dirt out wash them up.
It's such a special feeling to hear them ring again after a couple hundred years of silence.

Great finds, excellent pics, and nice ID on that buckle. I think I have one and now I know what it is! I always assumed by oldest were the spectacle type.
