17th century surprise

I hit a beach today while i wait for for the frost to loosen its grip on my colonial sites.
After digging a couple pounds of lead sinkers and a couple dollars in clad, i got my coil over a little history. Im pretty sure this William III copper puts me in the 17th century club. I am almost positive that i can see a “16” on the reverse (I couldnt get a clear pic, so you’ll have to take my word for it). I know its pretty wiped, but Im surprise how well it held up in the surf.
Seems sort of fitting, my last find for 2021 was a gold ring on a colonial site so of course my first find of 2022 would be a colonial coin on the beach…. Go figure.

Yep, it's a William. Gulielmus is William in latin. Coins with just William were minted from 1695 - 1702.
