Got out for a bit on Saturday. Temp wasn't to bad here back east. I went to an old home site, now a completely wooded area. Thick woods! I got a great tone on my CTX, 12:44. Target was not that deep at all, and it was nice to find my first big copper of 2016. Got it home and cleaned her up and reveled a beautiful 1814 Classic Head LC w/ Crossest "4".
I believe it to be a simi key date coin, and was happy to see some detail on the coin.
Found a couple other cool relics that day too, musket ball, small buckle.
Thanks for looking and HH

Very nice coin! It has good detail, considering it's age. Must have been a nice new coin when dropped!

Well done sir!

Nice Large Cent. Usually large coppers from 1808-1816 look like hell due to the poor quality planchets they used during that time. Yours looks great and a crosslet to boot!

Always like finding large cents and the classic heads come up even less often then the draped busts. Nice find. Interesting it read 12/44 as my LC's almost always read 12/46.

Thank you. I was using the 17" coil, also other targets were present that may have effected the vdi.
