Sunday afternoon found a 1851 3 cent and a Marking Check, patent date August 31, 1869. The marking check was developed for transferring cotton by steamboat down to New Orleans. Higher grade cotton was being substituted for a lesser grade after purchase because ink marking or chalk was being altered. The check was attached by rivets to the strap.
Very Nice!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!

I enjoyed reading the history behind your O'Dell's Marking Check etex, this is something I'd never heard before.
Congrats on the 1851 3 cent, it looks to be in very nice shape too.
