Excited to find my first ever flying eagle cent. Unfortunately, the 12% nickel content resulted in it not holding up well. For whatever reason, the soils in my area eat nickel but leave copper in good shape. I must have found over 20 IHP in the past 5 years of detecting. The GW quarter looks tortured. I think it was fire roasted.

The crotal bell is my fourth-ever. I recently found a #4 in this area. I show a photo of it as it came out of the ground before cleaning it with Basso metal polish.

Near-freezing temps today but cooler in the NW ocean breeze. Ticks are finally dormant so I can stray into the brush, but I'm reluctant to have the bull briars rip up my new Muck Artic Pro boots. Wearing lots of orange so that I don't get shot by deer and waterfowl hunters. Heard many shots from three different directions today. Next weekend and thereafter thru winter I have access to my large colonial hunting grounds so I'm looking forward to finding some big coppers. And no hunting allowed there so I can relax.

your doing REAL WELL !!!
keep it up :)

That was a great hunt. I have been detecting 22 years and have only found one flying eagle and it looks a lot like yours.

Good luck on your upcoming farm hunt. Watch out for the hunters anyway. My father used to own a farm and he had a lot of trouble with hunters trespassing during deer season. You might want to wear something orange just in case. Inexperienced hunters are out there and are a hazard to themselves and others.

Good luck, stay safe and keep swingin.

super cool variety of finds, wtg. I am partial to the old silver though.........

Still good detail on the flying eagle.

Nice finds. Your IHP is one yr away from second rarest date! Very close!

WTG on the finds. Still looking for my 1st FE.

Congrats on the fantastic finds ! :icon_thumright:

Congrats on your first Flying Eagle and the rest of your finds. At least you have enough detail on the Eagle to see the design and get a date. I've seen a lot worse in my days.

Some super nice finds Eastender! That crotal bell is my favorite. Congrats!
