Of course its silver. Any washington quarter, roosevelt dime, dollar or half dollar before 1964 is silver. Anything after that for a few years is 40% silver clad. I forget the date, but after a certain year they switched to knickel instead of silver and have no silver content.

90% silver on dimes, quarters, and halves up to and including 1964. Then 40% silver on the halves only up to and including 1970. Silver nickels during World War II (I think these were about 35% or so).

Nice Find! Did you find it with a detector or did you eyeball it?

Thanks, I found it with my Cortes, along with some clad and a ring I thought at first was pewter but after cleaning it I'm leaning towards sterling silver ( discolored yet and can't find a stamp ).
