I think the trime is the smallest silver coin ever minted by the United States. There was a $1.00 gold coin that was smaller. The trime measures 14mm and the gold coin was 13mm. Here is one I found yesterday beside a half dime found a long time ago. Here is a link to a site that shows U S minted coin sizes.

One of my favorite coins to find. I’ve found three in 2019,2020 and 2021 but I can’t for the life of me find a 2 cent piece or a half dime
