I found this in the woods detecting today, very close to a Civil War skirmish and cemetery. It has a hole going right through it. Is it a three ringer made into a necklace? Thanks for any help.

Looks like a three ringer to me. This is one of the wonderful things about metal detecting. Necklace as in good luck charm because it was a near miss or wounded with it? Fishing weight because they were camped by a stream? The great thing is you have it in your hand and are the person it was given to by the person that dropped/lost it. I'd be very happy to have found that.

Thanks Aussie, that is one of the great things about detecting; wondering what the story is behind every find. Roaddust I found it on a hill above a river so good possibility it is a fishing sinker.
