Found in Va. Pattern is 1779, 39 within a broken circle, turret shank. Turret is tapered like the tip of a Phillips screwdriver. And, it's flat brass, not pewter. 22mm, and no backmark. I can't find any references to brass Regimentals. From the same site has come a 12mm x 17mm oval one piece with what looks to be Winged Mercury standing beside an anchor, a 12mm one piece with an anchor, a 12mm two piece with a camel (Scovill backmark), a 13mm two piece with a thistle plant (????--London), a domed solid cast with a Bird of Paradise (?) no backmark, 20mm. All came from a mixed camp of Revolutionary, 1812, and CW. Any ideas?

Sorry Mav, if I could I would. I guess I'll have to spring for a better camera.
Cheers

Re: 39th Infantry Regimental button.--Buckram

You nailed it. I found an article on French buttons issued to the army by the Continental Congress. Now all I need to find is whose 39th. The U.S. 39th was a WWI formation, so I think this may have been a state issue.
Thanks
Jim
