I'm trying to gather peoples input on the value of this $5 Federal Reserve Note that I have. Its about to become part of a legal battle between a company and me. They're basically refusing to give it back after I paid to have it graded. It received a grading of 50 About Uncirculated, Discovery, Cyan Seal, Original and Only Known from PMG. PMG won't give me a value that they labeled it as because I'm not the company that sent it in for grading. When I had the company send it in I put $894,000 for what I felt its value was and paid the extra cost for something valued so high. Without PMG releasing their estimated value I have no way to prove its value because there's never been one sold or graded before that is known of. So I need a lot of peoples input and value they feel this bill is worth. Hopefully this kinda thing is ok to do here.

Is this not the right place for this kind of thing or does nobody have any thoughts on this?

I don’t even begin to understand the part about PMG “refusing to give it back [to you]” or refusing to give you a value “because I'm not the company that sent it in for grading”, nor can I help with the probable value…. but you may be interested in this:

https://boards.pmgnotes.com/topic/80688-5-dollar-bill-from-2001-series-with-blue-seal/

The original poster on that thread had such a bill and refuted the suggestion that it had been chemically treated to alter the seal colour (ie a fake). This was his bill:

He followed up with “I found this [information] online, so it seems that there could be others” (but the link is defunct and now diverts to an unrelated website):

One responder said: “I have seen a few of these graded by PMG saying that they are authentic with the slabs comments being "error: wrong ink colors".”

Another responder said: “I also have a bill like this.. I looked every where online and this is the first thing I have found on it” (but the pictures are no longer present on the thread and the links don’t work).

PMG isn't refusing to give it back the company I send it for grading is refusing to give it back. I've actually found pics of 4 others online in all my research but none ever graded by any grading company. So it's not the only one period...its the only one graded officially as of now. According to PMG at least. It seems weird all these bills and only 1 seems to be at 1 federal reserve bank and never 2. The odds of this happening at 5 different places at once is so incredibly low. I would think is must be on purpose.

Sry for the double attachment posts. Idk how that even happened.

I second this motion.
He's saying that he thought it was very valuable, so he paid extra to have it graded; because he thought it was so valuable. Probably some sort of cost associated with the value of an item.

Why any company would refuse to give back private property that you sent in for grading is odd to me. Maybe its time to consult an attorney.

Good thoughts and probably right.

I feel this story began in Chapter Two; where is Chapter One?
Don.
I have contacted an attorney already. I had the company Lokis Gold send it in for grading along with a $50 confederate bill signed by the designer, a low number silver cert star note, and a $1 silver dollar coin. Lokis decided they wanted them and wont give them back. I have all the proper paperwork and we are going to court later this month.

Is that the pawn shop in Comstock Park, MI? Seems like an unusual choice to have sending in for grading. Did you sign the usual pawn shop agreement with them when you gave them your treasures?

There was quite a bit of paperwork actually. Yes its that pawn shop. It was the place most businesses in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio recommended. Currency and Gold shops all over from North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Minnesota all know that was my bill and were waiting to see the graded outcome of this.

Are they compensating you for the items?

Two possibilities based solely on the images provided.

1. Counterfeit.

2. Ink color issue.

Only a qualified professional can tell you, and it will be based on inspection.

I wonder what ever happened to this story/chapters missing/final chapter missing.
The OP was pretty adamant trying to recover the bill.
I guess like a lot of thing we just go :dontknow:
