dude Ive seen French Marine Buttons or Navy I forget which,that looked very similar to that one.Dont quote me on it.But that is an old button.

Could be military. I found that if you soak your buttons in a little bit of lemon juice and water, some designs pop up out that you didn't have a clue existed. It is definately from 1750-1845. No question about that.
