Back at the local spot in the park woods that I found a few weeks back. Got a nice 21 signal on the bank of the stream and out popped my first Half Cent, 1809! Took 7 years to find one and have been on a couple hunts when other guys had found one, so pretty stoked, not a looker but has a readable date.

Also found a Nipple Button, i think these are usually earlier in the 1700’s than tombacs, not 100% sure. Also another beat pewter button (no USA) and a small 3 piece with a bit of a pattern, rare to find a 2 piece here. No military buttons here which is very unusual.

In addition to the Half Cent another CT state copper popped out.

Still finding keeper targets at a rate of 4-5 per hour, so I’m thinking the site could hit 100 buttons if I keep at it, we’ll see if the Spring growth stops me short.
It will be unhuntable in about 3 weeks.

Last pic is coins so far, not a lot, but fun when they pop!

Congrats on your first half cent Thad
I have found a couple 1809s and an 1810. The dates on those coins are so large they stand out even if the coin is toast. The Connecticut was a nice bonus too

I tried to look up some examples of the nipple button but nothing with that type of shank back. Sweet recovery, not many are dug.

Thats some nice old stuff Thad.

Glad to see your still finding stuff and getting out.

I've been testing the Nokta legend past 3 weeks its a bad ass machine.

Been hitting a bunch of home sites through out the city. Sitting at 31 silvers for 22.

Haven't posted anything though. Started a new job and work alot of long days.

Always enjoy your post though.
