Todays digs... Only ended up with a couple frozen chunks of dirt to thaw out once I got home today. I think tomorrow the ground may be too frozen to get at anything at all. Oh well. I did find an interesting green stone button and weird box-like piece if jewelry(?). It is hollow and I was hoping it had another gold coin in it, but I can't figure out if it even opens up. Some Civil War bullets and a few Eagle buttons rounded out the finds from an old Civil War camp. Thanks for checking out my post!

Sweet Hunt ! that box thing looks a little like a cat fish face, odd placement of the chain ring. I hope it does open for you. Looks too small to hold any coins though.

not sure, but it might be its construction & nothing to do with it opening?

Nice score on the bullets.:headbang:When I was in Mystic Sea Port Connecticut I bought a gold charm for my daughter. It was a small lunch basket that opened up and in it was a tiny, and I mean tiny, perfect little replica of a wheat cent. You may have something very interesting in that little charm there AC, crack her open and lets have a look.:icon_cyclops_ani:

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a diamond inside that bad boy. I'd have to pry it open to satisfy curiosity.

Another nice assortment of relics Beau. That one jewelry item is very intriguing. That would be awesome if you could score a 2nd gold coin in a week. I'm itching to get back out too, and hope the weather cooperates but its not looking too promising.

Cool stuff. Unless it makes a sound when shaken, I'd say it's just hollow. Neat jewelry item though, and some great finds. :)

Guess I won't be headed your way this weekend then :( Should be thawed out next week here. If you want to dig some CW, come on up. I'm re-hitting all my old spots with the new machine and expect decent luck.
