I SURE wish my ground was like Calabash Digger's ground!!!
I posted this on another site, so some of you may have already seen it.
But I just don't find that many 1800s coins and a Shield Nickel is a WOW moment for me....

The fields are DRY around my parts and any huntin is tough.
Got in a little over an hour or so and pulled some interesting targets from an old cabin site.
The round brown object in the upper left is a lead ingot. don't find them often. cleaned it up hoping for a smelter, but no luck.
Couple of shotshell full brass and a few rifle casings.
Hand full of lamp parts, a couple of spoons, harmonica reed and pocket knife parts,
a little wick winder (Venus PAT Dec 10,1867) and a compact top with a little gold gilding.
And the best find was an 1869 shield nickel.

Always nice to get out and hunt even if it is hard ground.

Looks like a gold compact or locket, HuntinDog. That old nickel may be a prize, too.

Excellent finds...hard ground or not, I'd definitely be hitting that site regularly.

you cleaned house!

Thanks Guys,
I appreciate the pat on the back and don't worry I'll go back....
