With the current treasures being pulled up from the marivilla....I would get that one....value is certain to rise with the new found attention to this wreck

Watch the video and you will understand the new attention to this wreck.

Hello guys,

I'm about to buy new 'piece of eight' from a shipwreck. The seller has 2 coins, both 8 Reales, one is from Capitana shipwreck 1654 and the other is from Maravillas shipwreck 1656. I wanted to ask which one of those shipwreck coins is more valuable/rare?

Regards,
Sac42
Do some DD on each coin. There is lots of duplicating going on using silver melt.
Also check sale prices (not reserve) on completed ebay auctions. This will give you a true value.

I like the look of the second coin way better than the first in my opinion.

If you are buying for investment or just for 'show and tell', I wouldn't buy either coin (assuming both are genuine and come with COAs). I'd buy a 'shipwreck' coin in sufficient quality to discern the many different varieties; these coins lack that degree of quality.
You probably know the Maravillas coins came from salvaging the 'Capitana'.

Thank you! I'm pretty new into shipwreck coins, reply like yours are really helpful for me! Cheers
